Who We Are

One doesn’t have to search hard to start marveling at nature’s many colors. Her waters, bright turquoise from glaciers, and tannin-dyed shades of brown. The soil, in shades ranging from black and red, rich in nature’s nutrients. Alpine meadows, produce a kaleidoscope-like eruption of blooms each spring. In autumn, the mighty oak tree’s leaves cascade through the rainbow’s spectrum in preparation for winter.

However, those that are seen enjoying nature are often portrayed as having a single shade. Individuals identifying as BIPOC are vastly underrepresented in outdoor spaces.

Nature’s beauty encompasses many shades. So too do those who enjoy Nature. Despite prevailing perceptions, all humans, regardless of shade, race, color, or ethnicity, can be included in the order of nature’s revelers.

Shades of the Outdoors will change the narrative.

How We Do It

Though speaking, writing, consulting, and leading outdoor adventures, we’re grateful for the organizations that chose Shades of the Outdoors to walk with them on their diversity, equity and inclusion journey. If you’d like to build a better outdoors, send us a message below.
